Homework. What feelings does that word conjure up for you? Dread?
Well, suffer some more, because I’ve got some homework for you. You all know that one of the failures in the world of Personal Development is reading and not practicing. Many people read, get a boost of inspiration, and then don’t apply whatever they’ve learnt.
UrbanMonk.Net is a very practical blog, and so I’d like to set a few challenges and assignments for you.

In this post, we’ll deal with situations where someone else is involved. Although I will refer to the other person as the “opponent”, this doesn’t have to apply to competition only. What situation in your life could do with an action plan? Is it sports, martial arts, a business meeting, a date, or maybe even making up with someone you had an argument with? These are obviously more complicated than we dealt with previously – but much more fun!

The tattooed muscle-bound fighter across the ring glared at me with narrowed eyes. I calmly looked back, savoring the smell of the boxing ring we were in, basking in the adulation of the beautiful women who had come to watch me fight. As the bell rang to signify the start of the fight, I glided across the canvas towards my opponent.

Visualization, also called mental imagery, is a powerful tool for many areas of your personal growth. It trains your mind and your body. However, it is not as easy as many think it is, and there isn’t much proper information available. Even if we can do it, the question is – how do we best apply it?
